Helen said that this was a staple in their home. I’m not sure if it would be in ours. We are going to try it tonight, and I’ll let you know what we thought.
I did not care for it as is. I mixed in some maple syrup and put it over yogurt. That was much better!
This recipe is on page 88 in Helen Nearing's Simple Food for the Good Life
- 4 cups rolls oats whole oats
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil add more if needed
- Mix all ingredients together
- Eat in a wooden bowl with wooden spoons
The recipe doesn’t say to let set for any amount of time. I let ours set 1/2 hour.
