{"id":934,"date":"2015-02-28T10:00:11","date_gmt":"2015-02-28T15:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shinytinymansion.com\/?p=934"},"modified":"2025-09-11T14:10:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T18:10:20","slug":"portlandia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shinytinymansion.com\/index.php\/2015\/02\/28\/portlandia\/","title":{"rendered":"A Portlandia Tiny"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Van Life | Portlandia | Season 8\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TIH4ElBo4l0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><strong>If you aren&#8217;t familiar with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifc.com\/shows\/portlandia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Portlandia<\/a>, it&#8217;s a parody show on IFC.&nbsp;<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">If you didn&#8217;t catch that, it is a&nbsp;<\/span><em style=\"font-size: 13px;\">parody<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">. &nbsp;We&#8217;ve watched this show faithfully since the beginning and love it. &nbsp;Fred and Carrie poke fun at a lot of things, including the tiny housers.&nbsp;<\/span>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=P6pj3jVgeh8\">video<\/a> was featured on the <a href=\"http:\/\/smallhousesociety.net\/2015\/02\/25\/microhouse-video-by-portlandia-features-tiny-house-satire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Small House Society&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;facebook page, and apparently one member &nbsp;<em>unliked<\/em> &nbsp;the page because she was offended by the PARODY!!!! (Updating this page on 1\/20\/23&#8211;I can&#8217;t find the video. I wonder if they took it down because people were offended. : \/ )<\/p>\n<p>The video above is another episode that is a similar idea.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This closed minded arrogance, in my opinion, is what gives people&nbsp;involved in any type of &#8220;movement&#8221; a bad name.<\/strong> There are others who can see the humor in things and laugh at themselves. Those are the people who will sustain the &#8220;movements.&#8221; They are usually the ones who are experienced and know that there are issues with everything that can be very aggravating at times but also funny. I would imagine if you ask&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/padtinyhouses.com\/the-big-tiny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dee Williams <\/a>, who is a tiny house dweller and also from Portland,&nbsp;about this video, she would say that it is hilarious and pretty true. I wonder if this &#8220;unliking&#8221; person has lived in a tiny house and, if so, how long she&#8217;s lived that way.
