We are about to begin again
It feels like we are starting over with Shiny Tiny. We moved to Maine in May and to our land in Harborside in June. Currently, we are living in a camper trailer until we get our house built. That may take awhile, so we are also searching for a winter habitation.

We are trying to decide how we will build here. Ron built our Shiny Tiny in Ohio when we were fairly young. Now that we are old, it is more difficult to do what we did then. We have been looking for alternatives for houses, but we aren’t sure yet if we will go with a modular home or build one with help. Ron would like to design the house, and I would like that too. Neither of us likes typical kinds of houses as you can plainly see from the pics of our original Shiny Tiny. We will document that process here when we begin. All we know right now is where we want to place our house.

We have 2.8 acres of wooded land. It is really beautiful here. A portion of it is wet lands, but most of it is in woods. We had a drive and turn around made to get back here easily. We would like to place our house where these trees are. We have plenty of birch trees so taking some down for building won’t be that difficult.
We will post our progress as we move through this stage.
In the meantime, I would like to start posting about how to utilize the “slow movement” in your daily life. The slow movement started with a gentleman named Carlo Petrini in 1986 with a protest against the creation of a McDonald’s in Rome. After the slow culture began, other fields took up the philosophy and turned it into a movement. Of course, slow and deliberate living has been around for centuries. The basis of the movement is rooted in mindfulness philosophy. When we take time to slow down and really experience and enjoy life, time slows down also. We understand that every act and every moment is precious so we treat them differently.
I would like to incorporate this movement in how I live, work, and play. Therefore, I will post about slow cooking, slow crafts, slow gardening, and a general slow way of living.
Here in Harborside, we take the time to enjoy our neighbors and the place where we live. We are so lucky to be here, and I will share our experiences on the blog and on social media.
So sit back, relax, and take it slowly. We are in Harborside now!
